Mr. David Gosney serves as the USAID Mission Director for El Salvador. He is a member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service and has more than 19 years of experience working at USAID. Prior to joining the El Salvador Mission, he served as the USAID Deputy Mission Director in South Sudan. Other assignments include Office Director positions in Thailand, Georgia, and Iraq overseeing assistance in areas such as government financing, central bank operations, microfinance, agricultural development, biodiversity conservation, road construction, rural development, off-grid electricity production, and USG engagement with regional institutions. A native of San Diego, California, Mr. Gosney received his Bachelor of Science from Humboldt State University in 1991; a Master of International Affairs specializing in Economic Policy from Columbia University in 1998; and a Master of National Security Strategy from the National War College in 2016. Prior to joining USAID, he served as an Economist at the Institute of International Finance, and was a member of the first group of Peace Corps Volunteers in Zimbabwe, where he taught secondary-level math and science from 1991-1993.
