Given that school-based approaches alone have not proved sufficient to reach the goal of widespread reading proficiency among early grade children in many developing countries, broadening the scope of literacy interventions beyond the school is a necessary step (Kim, Boyle, Zuilkowski, Nakamura, 2016). Community engagement has been viewed as a necessary ingredient to supporting children’s education. However, with less financing going into the most marginalized schools there is need to increase the evidence base on the vital role that communities play to strengthen the literacy ecosystem around the most vulnerable children. Come join us for an interactive discussion on behavior informed interventions with caregivers and communities as a promising practice to promote children’s reading outcomes, especially the most marginalized. The session will include an illustration of a variety of tested SBC prototypes and models used with caregivers, families and communities that target children experiencing higher barriers to quality education.
Registration will close at 4 PM ET on January 25, 2023. Meeting details will be sent to all registered participants shortly thereafter.
