Jamal joined SID-Washington in January as the Events and Administration Coordinator, coordinating and overseeing annual event logistics. He supports the Finance and Operations Director and President in managing vendor relationships, supporting logistics coordination, and administrative tasks. He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in May 2020 with two degrees, B.A. Government & Politics: International Relations, B.A Broadcast Journalism, and a minor in International Development and Conflict Management.
At UMD, he held several leadership positions, serving as the Caribbean Students Association president and a resident assistant. While at UMD, he collaborated with an NGO and Leiden University to design a consulting development project targeting youth engagement in Kenya's politics.
Outside of SID-W, Jamal volunteers at the Embassy of Guyana, where he researches development issues in Guyana and the greater Caribbean region. He is originally from Guyana.
