Jana Torrico is the Sr. Education Specialist at Food for the Hungry (FH) and has over 20 years of experience applying SBC into projects and programs across several sectors, including Heath & Nutrition, WASH, and most recently, Education. She has lived and worked in Latin America the entirety of her professional career, having served under an USAID-funded project in Bolivia and then with privately-funded community development programming in Guatemala. Jana continues to live in Guatemala, now providing technical assistance across the LAC region for FH’s ECD and Early Grades Education interventions with teachers, families, and communities. Her passion for supporting teachers during the pandemic led to the design and implementation of tools for teacher well-being, motivation, and teacher behavior change; and she is currently co-designing a behaviorally-informed model for teacher learning circles to improve Reading Comprehension outcomes. Jana has been a member of the Reading Comprehension Interest Group since 2018 and is excited about the groups’ recent work to integrate SEL and RC.
