Sara Reef currently serves as Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Lead for External Affairs in the Department of Congressional and Public Affairs to manage the agency’s public engagement strategy in support of MCC’s work and mission.

Ms. Reef joined MCC in 2016 and since that time has worked to increase MCC’s public profile with civil society, USG agencies, MCC partner countries, the donor community, and think tanks. Prior to MCC, Ms. Reef worked for the World Bank Group as a Communications Officer in the Bank’s External and Corporate Relations Department. At the WBG, she coordinated the Bank’s engagement with civil society organizations, and helped to lead the Bank’s Faith Initiative.

Previously, Ms. Reef was awarded the prestigious Ralph I. Goldman Fellowship from the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). During her tenure, she spent a year working on development projects in Gandor, Ethiopia; Kharkov, Ukraine; and Jerusalem, Israel. Ms. Reef also served as the Director of Cross Cultural Initiatives for Intersections International, a New York based NGO.

Ms. Reef earned her Master of Arts in International Studies from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center, and her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from American University’s School of International Studies. She spent a year studying on an Anna Sobel Levy Graduate Fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
