Brett joined SID-US in January 2024 as a Program Associate. As a current senior-year undergraduate from American University, he majors in International Relations and Economics, with a specific interest in International Development/Development Economics.
Within his coursework and extracurricular experiences, he has come to aspire towards an early career in the international development realm. Recently, Brett lived, studied, and worked in Nairobi, Kenya, where he was an international economics fellow at the Institute of Economic Affairs, a highly engaging experience. Before Kenya, he has had involvement within the international development realm at a SID-US member, International Business and Technical Consultants Inc. (IBTCI), where he served as an intern in the Crisis, Conflict, and Governance department. Additionally, he has interned at the US Department of Commerce in the Bureau of the Interntaional Trade Administration where he worked to gain foreign procurement advocacy for US firms in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Outside of his work experience, Brett remains an avid traveler and during his recent study abroad experience he was able to visit a plethora of nations including Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Kenya. Over the last few years, he has also helped to coordinate the Mexico City Model United Nations conference held annually in Mexico City. Brett remains highly optimistic regarding the state of international development and hopes to one day play a transformative part in this highly important sector.
