Alex Russin

Alex Russin is the Resident Country Director for the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in Jordan where he is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the $275 million MCC-Jordan Compact. Recognizing that Jordan is among the world’s driest countries and water scarcity impacts every aspect of life, the MCC-Jordan Compact is designed to increase the effective supply of water available to the inhabitants of Zarqa Governorate, one of the Kingdom’s most populated areas, through improvements in the efficiency of water delivery, the extent of wastewater collection and the expansion of the capacity of wastewater treatment, by way of a major public-private partnership. Prior to working in Jordan, Alex managed the five year, $177 million MCC-Armenia Compact. Completed in September 2011, MCA-Armenia Program benefited over 420,000 rural residents in around 350 communities across Armenia by refurbishing major sections of the country’s main canal systems, modernizing some of the most urgently needed pumping stations, introducing new gravity irrigation schemes, re-building tertiary canals and restoring sections of the Ararat Valley Drainage system. Mr. Russin has over 17 years of infrastructure development and project-finance experience in Europe, South East Asia, Latin America, and the United States. Alex has conducted seminars and workshops on infrastructure development and government privatizations. He is multilingual, a native Spanish speaker and proficient in French. He received his M.B.A., Finance, from University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics and Latin American Studies from Haverford College. He is married, has three small children and thoroughly enjoys outdoor sporting activities.
