Christian Arandel is a Senior Governance Advisor at Counterpart International with over 25 years of diverse global experience with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Sub-Saharan Africa. In his current capacity, he provides overall technical leadership in designing, implementing and monitoring governance programs and oversees the organization’s Sahel portfolio. This portfolio includes State Department, USAID and EU programs that promote stability and peace building through improved governance and engagement of traditionally excluded groups. He is the Technical Director for the flagship Resilient Governance in Niger program (USAID) which supports local elected officials and civil society leaders in 19 municipalities in Niger in working together to improve access to and quality of basic services through participatory governance. He brings a wide range of skills and experience with governance methodologies (including political economy analysis and includive social accountability) that he has applied to fragile, conflict and violence country contexts. He holds degrees in urban planning, public administration, and political science and is fluent in French and English.
