In 2021, USAID announced its goal to channel a quarter of its funding directly to local partners by FY25. This is great news for local partners but the road to receiving U.S. federal funding can be complicated, with a language unto itself and ever-changing processes and requirements. It can be overwhelming to an organization new to U.S. federal funding, and even those familiar with the process need to keep up with system updates. It can be a particularly confounding process for local partners in developing countries to try to get a foot in the door. We have asked several experts to share their knowledge of how local partners can join the USAID contracting world.

Our speakers and their firms provide extensive multi-day training sessions on how to navigate USAID around the world. If you are a business development professional from a developing country or in any position requiring an understanding of the proposal process and how to gain access to USAID funding, this interactive workshop will be helpful to you. You'll get practical tips and learn about resources to help you and your teams bid for and manage USAID-funded projects and build strong partnerships with the agency.

This two-part workshop will provide local partners with information and resources to establish and deepen their understanding of how to grow their work with USAID. The first part will feature presentations from experts on the USAID funding process. During the second part, participants will develop their own elevator pitches for projects to USAID. They will then have an opportunity to present their ideas to our panel of judges consisting of potential USAID primes and partners. Gain hands-on experience from our experts and put your knowledge into practice immediately!

Past participants in our How to Work with USAID workshops have included professionals from NGOs, for-profit international development companies, universities, and small businesses. Some were new to the world of USAID funding and others wanted to hone their skills and learn about new requirements.

This workshop is intended for developing country partners and potential partners interested in learning more about the ins and outs of working with USAID. While anyone is welcome, we expect attendees to mostly hail from Latin America, Africa, and Eastern Europe due to the timing of the event. We will plan additional workshops later this year to coincide with other time zones. Please stay tuned to SID-US’s website for information on future workshops in this series.
