David Githaiga is a skilled development practitioner with over 20 years of progressive experience in community-focused development. He currently works as the Regional Business Development Manager for Africa at DevWorks International. At DevWorks, David is leading the organization’s East Africa region efforts to strengthen the capacity of local partners to catalyze locally-driven development.

Before joining DevWorks International, David worked as the Africa Conservation Director at The Nature Conservancy (TNC), overseeing community conservation programs and projects in ten African countries. In addition to his role in program management at TNC, David also played a key role in fundraising and reporting to both private and public donors, including USAID. Additionally, he helped TNC country teams develop donor and community needs responsive projects - and was part of the TNC Africa Leadership. Before joining TNC, David worked at UNDP as the Assistant Resident Representative for Kenya and the leader of the natural resource management and climate change teams - where he coordinated and provided technical and operational oversight over a US$ 40 million project portfolio. Prior to his work at UNDP, David worked for Winrock International, where he backstopped programs in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Africa, Uganda, and South Sudan, including projects support of Africa programs from the United States (Washington DC).

David holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Slippery Rock University in the USA, a Master's degree in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University, USA, and an MBA from United States International University in Nairobi.
